Richard Greer Willard

RICHARD GREER WILLARD, 72, beloved husband of Pamela Parrott Willard, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, December 18, 2022 in Piedmont Augusta Hospital.

A native of Knoxville, TN, Rick was a son of the late Jack Greer and Wanda Sise Willard.  He earned his Bachelor’s degree from UT-Knoxville in nuclear engineering and his Master’s degree in mechanical engineering from USC.  Rick moved to Aiken in 1968.  He retired after 49 years from the Savannah River Site.  He was the former owner of Wiznet Computers.  Rick was an active member of Corinth Baptist Church where he was a Deacon, served as church treasurer for 35 years, played on the church’s basketball, softball and volleyball teams and also sang in the choir and church’s quartet.  He was a member of Gideons International, serving as treasurer of the Gideon East Camp in Aiken.  Rick pulled chains for Silver Bluff Football for 30 years and formerly served as treasurer for the Silver Bluff Band Boosters.

Survivors, in addition to Pamela, his wife of 49 years; two sons, Nolan Ryan Willard, Memphis, TN, Richard Greer Willard, II (Vanessa), Johns Creek, GA; three grandchildren, Raegan, Blayke and Roman; sister, Jacki Willard-Olive (David), Nashville, TN; sisters-in-law, Judy Willard, Knoxville, TN, Deborah Winburn, New Ellenton; two nephews, Jack Willard, James Willard Olive.  In addition to his parents, Rick was preceded in death by his brother, Michael Willard and sister-in-law, Vicki Parrott.

The family will receive friends Friday afternoon, December 23^rd from 1:30 until 3:00 PM at Corinth Baptist Church.  The funeral service will follow at 3 PM with The Revs. Jason Redd and Brancie Stephens officiating.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery with Rev. Kirby Bunton officiating.
